The "Aegean Trails" is a holiday package that combines love for the sea, alternative tourism, hiking and the opportunity to experience the ancient art of sailing, which is directly linked to the culture and development of Greek civilization.
This sailing holiday is for 8 days with 3 nights on land and 4 on a sailing boat. Participants will have the opportunity to experience the beautiful Sporades, a group of islands in the central Aegean and see the beautiful mountain Kissavos.
Participants of this package have the choice whether or not to take part in any of the activities. Those who do wish to partake in the activities are advised to follow and abide by the rules and guidance of the skipper and guide. Mutual understanding and respect of each other is vital for all participants as the space on board the boat is limited.
Our package is designed to explore the beautiful beaches of the Sporades islands of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos. The breathtaking scenery, traditional tavernas, crystal clear waters that are designated as a National Marine Park. We will see seals, we cook together, go fishing and walk the streets of the capital cities of these islands. We will also walk in the beautiful woods of Kissavos.
Day 1: Arrival in Greece
Welcome! Our guests arrive at the airport of Thessaloniki in North Greece or Athens where they received by our guide with the mini-van. After the first meeting between our group, we start the journey to the Traditional Guesthouse Ios in the region of Agias in Skiti Larissa. We arrive at the guesthouse where the owner welcomes us and then we can rest in our rooms. The living room will be prepared for dinner where we sit together to eat and get know each other. The first evening will be one of leisure and rest. (Night inland hostel)
Day 2: Volos / Sailing / Old Trikeri / Monastery Annunciation
We have breakfast in the dining room and then start the journey to the port of Volos where we will find the sailing boat that will accompany us on our journey. We will board the boat and get to know our skipper who will introduce us to the ancient art of sailing. The first few miles of our journey take us through the Pagasitikos Gulf.
The route ends at the island of Old Trikeri, where we take enjoy in a traditional taverna by the sea. This is then followed by a short hike to the Monastery of Annunciation. We visit this monastery and anyone who wishes can be accommodated for the night in the monastery area. The rest of the group will go to the port of the island for our dinner. Here we will relax and rest. (Overnight in sailboat or at the monastery)
Day 3: Skiathos / Skopelos / Swimming / Sailing
We will have breakfast which we prepare together aboard and depart from Trikeri. We then head towards Tsougria beach on the island of Skiathos where we will swim in the magnificent blue waters and will take our lunch. Then we will set sail for the south-west part of Skopelos island where depening on the weather, we dock the boat at the majestic port of Panormos. We will find a local taverna or restaurant to have our dinner, and then relax for the evening. (Overnight in sailboat)
Day 4: Skopelos / Alonissos / Sailing / Swimming / Fishing
After waking we have breakfast which we prepare together on the deck and start sailing on the south, more sheltered side of Skopelos, where the most beautiful beaches are located. On this part of the journey we will decide together which will stops we will make for swimming and lunch. On our journey we will find beautiful Limonari, Agonato and the majestic Stafilos. Then we start towards Patitiri, the main port and capital of the island, which owes its name to the wine presses. Here we will leave the boat and dine, followed by resting for the night. Day 5: Alonissos / Skopelos / Sailing / Swimming
We enjoy our breakfast on board, then set sail and take a swim in Chrissi Milia, which is one of the most famous beaches of Alonissos. Then we head towards the picturesque Steni Vala. In this beautiful landscape will moor the boat and sit down to eat. After our lunch, we board our boat and depending on the time you have, we can stop for swimming in the small cove of Georgie Gialos or continue without stopping to our destination of Skopelos port which will accommodate us for our evening. Here we will enjoy dinner, some free time and rest. (Overnight in sailboat)
Day 6: Sailing / Volos / Skiti Agias
Upon awakening, we have breakfast and set sail to the port of Volos. Once we reach the port, we will bid farewell to our skipper, take a short walk in the city of Volos and board the mini-van to return after our sea adventure to the guesthouse at Agias Skiti. We will enjoy a dinner and then relax for the evening. (Night inland hostel)
Day 7: Kissavos / Hiking / Picnic / Farewell dinner
After breakfast in the lounge, we remain in the guesthouse and help our host prepare our picnic. This is another good opportunity to see, learn and experience traditional Greek cuisine and recipes. Once our picnic baskets are ready, we will start for a beautiful hiking trail that combines mountain and sea, lasting about 3 hours. This path leads to the beach of Velika, where we will have our picnic at the beach with Mount Kissavos overhead. Upon finishing the picnic, we return earlier to the guesthouse, where our host has prepared a special farewell dinner. Good wine and Greek music will create a special last night stay in Greece. We will have a relaxing evening and then rest before the return trip. (Night inland hostel)
8th Day: Departure from Greece
Unfortunately, we arrived at the last day. We will have breakfast and then wait for the mini-van for the journey to the Airport (Athens or Thessaloniki). We leave you to the airport for the return flight in the hope that together we enjoyed a memorable 8 day holiday.
1. All land transportation by air-conditioned mini-van.
2. All maritime nights are spent on the sailing boat (3 or 4 cabin boat - depending on the number of people in the group).
3. 8-day escorted English speaking tour guide from our office.
4. Mini-van driver who holds a professional diploma for land transportation.
5. Sailing boat skipper who holds a professional diploma for sea travel.
6. A beautiful welcome basket with traditional products and Thessalian & Sporades products.
7. 3 Nights in the Ios Traditional Guesthouse (4 keys).
8. 4 nights on a sailing boat. (Izella, Lauren, Iole)
9. 7 Breakfasts with traditional ingredients - 4 of which are eaten on the boat, and are prepared on the spot by everyone onboard.
10. 6 evening dinners (food & drink) 3 of which are eaten on the boat, and are prepared by everyone onboard.
11. 3 picnics (food & drink)
